REMOVes TOXINS From THE BODY TO SUPPORT HEALING
Have you heard of cupping therapy? It has been in the news quite a bit lately, because so many athletes at the Olympics were seen sporting cupping marks. They talked a little bit to the press about the therapy and its benefits, but not enough for most people to really know what it is and what it can do for them. As it turns out, cupping is a wonderful healing therapy. Here’s what you need to know about it.
What is Cupping?
Cupping is an ancient healing therapy that has been in use since ancient Egyptian times. In fact, some of the earliest known records of cupping come from that ancient society about 3,500 years ago. Other ancient societies like Greece and China also used it, but it is not known if they learned it from Egypt or discovered it independently. Since China perfected the technique, and the cupping we known today is relatively unchanged from about a thousand years ago in China, the therapy is associated with that nation.
Cupping involves taking one or more small cups, lighting a flammable substance inside them (usually alcohol or herbs), putting out the flame, and letting a vacuum form inside the cup. The cups are then quickly applied to the skin of the patient over the area being treated, usually on the back. The vacuum pulls the skin up into the cup, leaving marks such as you would get if you put a vacuum cleaner hose against your skin for a period of time. The idea is that by pulling up the skin like this, impurities and toxins are removed from the body, leaving you pain-free, energetic, and healthy.
In fact, scientific studies prove cupping can boost the strength of the immune system and make illnesses and injuries heal more quickly than they would on their own.
What Does Cupping Treat?
Cupping has been used for centuries to treat pain, congestion, fertility issues, infections, and other conditions regular medicine couldn’t heal, such as tuberculosis. In ancient China, it was such a trusted and elite therapy, it was mostly used on royals and the nobility.
In modern times, cupping is used to treat the same things it was used to treat in ancient times. It is also used to treat inflammatory conditions like arthritis, autoimmune conditions, herpes zoster, skin issues, allergies, varicose veins, high blood pressure, mental disorders, anemia, hemophilia, muscle aches, fibromyalgia, cellulite, and more.
